Maple Leaf Dental provide a full range of denture services, from smile design and cosmetic denture manufacture, to repair and adjustments. Dentures provide a cost effective and aesthetic solution for replacing lost teeth, they can replace a full row of teeth, several teeth, or even a single tooth.
Missing teeth can lead to changes in facial appearance, difficulties with pronunciation, and mastication. Dentures can alleviate all of these problems. Modern dentures have excellent cosmetics, and are often indistinguishable from real teeth.
Denture manufacture normally requires four or five appointments to allow for assessment and consultation, dental impressions, smile design, fitting and adjustment. We aim to schedule these appointments over a four to five week period where possible, to provide you with aesthetically excellent dentures as quickly as possible.
Cosmetic dentures can:
- Improve your appearance by providing support for lips and cheeks
- Improve your smile
- Improve oral health
- Allow you to eat the foods you like
- Rectify pronunciation difficulties caused by missing teeth
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are held in place via an acrylic or metal framework that connects the denture to surrounding teeth. They are easily removed for cleaning and can also help to prevent tooth migration that would normally occur as a result of missing teeth. A partial denture can improve oral function by replacing lost biting surface, they are also colour matched to ensure that your smile looks natural.
Full Dentures
Full dentures replace an entire row of teeth and are traditionally held in place by suction. Whilst this is normally sufficient for the top denture where palatal coverage provides extra suction, many people have trouble with slippage of the lower denture which is less stable. For this reason we usually recommend an implant supported lower denture.
Denture retention and stability can be greatly improve with just two implants, ensuring that bite alignment is maintained. Not all denture wearers are suitable for implant supported dentures, an initial assessment is required to ascertain whether or not there is sufficient bone volume and bone density to support the implants. All On 4 can provide a practical fixed alternative to implant retained dentures.
Immediate Dentures
Impressions for immediate dentures are taken prior to tooth extractions being carried out. The immediate denture can then be worn as soon as your teeth are extracted. They provide a temporary replacement for the extracted teeth and have excellent aesthetics. Because the profile of your gums will change following tooth extractions, it may be necessary to reline the immediate denture with acrylic to match your new gum profile if it becomes loose or uncomfortable.
